MEET "KATT"
Kathryn Taylor Smith, affectionately known as "Katt," through relentless dedication to her craft, has shown her ability to embody diverse characters with authenticity and depth. This weekend, witness her versatility as it shines through in her seamless transitions between 16 characters in her one woman show.
THE STORY
Join "Ester", an omniscient shoe whisperer, as she walks us through a day in her life on Skid Row. We meet a vagabond of characters: a transgender teen, a young mom, a mentally ill substance abuser, a high school valedictorian, a police officer, concerned citizens at a city council meeting and others.
"A Mile in My Shoes” is a Poetic Dramedy (mix of poetry, drama & comedy) and consciousness-raising theater. Creator Kathryn Taylor Smith portrays over 16 characters inspired by research and personal interviews with past and present members of the homeless community in LA as well as those who advocate for them. This socially conscious and socially relevant piece speaks to the audience from a raw, uncensored, unapologetic perspective. It will compel you to do more, to be better & to act kinder to your homeless brethren; not because they are homeless, but simply because they are human.
THE COMEDY
Katt's stage show is a masterclass in comedy, showcasing her exceptional talent for humor. THE SERVICE
Kathryn is proud to use her show as a vehicle to raise awareness to garner a variety support. In addition to financial gifts, at every show, guests are encouraged to bring toiletry items as well as new and gently used shoes to be donated to local organizations that serve the homeless. Donations are displayed as part of her stage set so guests and their generosity become part of the show.
